Ian had his 4 month checkup last week (3/11/16). It was one of those mornings where I was rushed and flustered (Eli woke up throwing up that morning), so of course I forgot half the questions I wanted to ask the doctor, but Ian got a GREAT report! The doc said he is looking really good and healthy. No concerns. He said he makes great eye contact and follows people/things with his eyes really well, which is great (said socially above the curve for his age). He said he will probably be tall, admitting that this was just a guess. He said he is not fat but is a stout/beefy boy and that he probably won't be an early walker (I'm not sure the correlation here (if any) and didn't think to ask right then. Eli was a very late walker too though so I wasn't surprised to hear it).
When the doc was checking him out, he kept commenting on how happy and smiley he was (used the word "jolly" which I thought was a pretty good description of Ian). He said "you're just a sweet soul aren't you" and I thought to myself you are exactly right doc. If you only knew!!! It's those sweet, sparkly eyes. They just give him right away!! We are so thankful for our sweet, healthy boys!!
**Sidebar: A couple of months ago Ian had a really bad ingrown toenail that I took him to the doc for. He said because of the way his toes are made, he will probably always have them (I blame it on Chris! Doc did say it is genetic) and that eventually we may have to do a procedure. But for now he gave me some antibiotic cream to put on it when it flares up to keep it from getting infected. And to let his toenails grow out just a little longer (the type A in me does not appreciate that). Since then it has been WAY better. I forgot to ask the doc to look at it at this appointment of course, but I know it is a lot better right now. When it does flare up, it doesn't seem to bother him unless we push on it. It just gets red and bubbles up, then usually drains on its own.

A jolly sweet soul is the PERFECT description. Nail on the head! Happiest baby I've ever seen. :)
